An incredible thing happened this past Spring - just as the Longtails were migrating back to roost in Bermuda, along came hundreds of visitors. The return of all the people we love (friends, family, dear longtime customers) to the island we love sparked a profound sense of well being and exuberance, after such a hard few years. Like the Longtail returning home to Bermuda, so many who hold this island dear to their hearts made their way back here. It is a remarkable moment in time and I knew I needed to capture that feeling in this year's ornament design.

For this design I wanted to represent the white feathers of the Longtail with a brighter, whiter sand. The stunning white crushed seashell sands of Shelly Bay were the perfect colour tone to symbolize the longtail.  The pink sand waves below our Longtail are a staple in our collections and represent the pink sand beaches longtails soar over. Finally, the twisted circle backdrop was made from a special kind of handmade wax called Mitsuro, made from beeswax and pine resin, which I warmed, and pulled like taffy to get a textured background which represents the motion of waves and water.
